Stockholm Gospel Academy gives you a unique opportunity to perfect your skills and expand your knowledge in gospel. Musically, theologically and historically. We are looking for you who want to work with gospel as a leader, producer, composer, and singer or as a musician taking the christian message as the starting point. In addition to the musical training you will be educated in the Afro-American history, as we put great emphasis on the sociopolitical aspect of gospel.
These are some of the classes:
Interpretation: Interpretation of the songs
Musical styles: "The sociology of gospel". The history of gospel from spirituals to the civil rights movement to modern day contemporary gospel.
Vocal training: For vocalists and choir leaders
Piano: From beginner to advanced
Instrument: From beginner to advanced
Leading the Choir: Gestures and interpretation. Methodology for teaching new songs and conducting.
Songwriting and music production: Compose, arrange, record and produce your own gospel songs.
Vocal ensemble: Sing a cappella. Learning is done by ear and sheet. Also improvisation and arranging.
The teachers at Stockholm Gospel Academy are:
Cyndee Peters (musical styles, interpretation and vocal ensemble)

Åsa Wännström (conducting)
Johan Öijen (guitar)
Johan Löfkrantz (drums)
Mia Gejrot (vocal technique)

Project weeks
During the project weeks you will have the privilege to work with guest teachers from both Sweden and USA, who will teach Text (Swedish and English), Theology, Repertoire, Music Business etc.
12 applicants are accepted.
You will be working with different external projects in Stockholm, with your role as a musician deciding your place.
As you will be working with Kulturama's own choirs, and projects outside of school, Stockholm Gospel Academy don't have a choir of its own.
During the year you will involved in CD-recordings, composing assignments, tours, charity concerts and festivals. Close collaborations with gospel choirs in Chicago, Illinois and Swedish choirs such as Immanuel Gospel will also be done.
Our goal is that after a year at Stockholm Gospel Academy you will have the necessary tools to work as a gospel musician/leader, and have gained a deeper knowledge and insight in the history of gospel music as well as its message and importance in today’s society.
Stockholm Gospel Academy is under state supervision and is entitled to study allowances and additional funding to cover our fees.
Facilities: Kulturama, Virkesvägen 21
